Regional Info:
Bishkek is the capital and the largest city in the country of Kyrgyzstan which borders Kazakhstan. It is also the country's financial centre. The city has quite a spectacular backdrop from the Tian Shan mountain range. Kyrgyzstan achieved independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and before independence, the majority of the city's population was ethnic Russians. By 2011 Russians made up only about 7–8% of the population. Today, Bishkek is a modern city, with many restaurants, cafes whilst still preserving much of its former Soviet feel in its buildings and gardens, museums, bazaars and churches. Weather-wise Bishkek enjoys warm - hot summers with temperatures averaging about 30 degrees in mid-summer (June/July) and cold winters with temperatures dropping below zero in the coldest months. https://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/comparison/london/bishkek More about Kyrgyzstan: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/kyrgyzstan https://www.lonelyplanet.com/kyrgyzstan/bishkek https://www.ashleyabroad.com/2019/06/03/living-in-kyrgyzstan/ https://www.expatarrivals.com/middle-east/kyrgyzstan/moving-kyrgyzstan https://www.expat.com/en/guide/asia/kyrgyzstan/ Geography Now!
