Secondary Humanities (AP World History) Teacher - Shenzhen, China- August 2025

This international school opened in August 2015 and is conveniently located in Shenzhen. They are seeking a qualified and experienced AP World History Teacher to prepare subject-specific lessons in AP World History and provide subject instruction on a higher level than grade standard, in an interactive learning environment and deliver exceptional results for all students.

As a World History teacher, it is primarily your responsibility to develop engaging, content-rich subject-specific lesson plans, and to teach students world history as a means to develop global perspectives and understand how and why historical events happened. History teachers cover a wide variety of topics focused on the five major geographical regions of the globe. Focuses include culture, economic systems, social structures, and major historical events. History teachers are able to collaborate with other teachers to tie in lessons with what students are learning in other subjects, such as music and art. History teachers at this school are passionate and excited to teach their students in innovative ways, and students are eager to learn and grow.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in your teaching subject (many teachers hold multiple advanced degrees in their field) and a minimum of two years teaching experience as the lead teacher of record in a classroom. This is a requirement for you to obtain a working visa. Applicants should also have an eagerness and willingness to collaborate with and elevate teaching colleagues. Shenzhen has a humid subtropical climate and summers are hot and wet (the monsoon season lasts from April to September) and winters are relatively mild and dry. There are about 14 million residents in Shenzhen and Cantonese is the first language for about half of these residents while the other half speak mainly Mandarin. In recent years, the city has developed a more cosmopolitan appearance with new shopping plazas, high rise buildings, a modern metro system and landscaped parks and road sides. It's a busy, lively city but parts of the cities have charm with restored churches, buildings and private residences. Having an international airport and being so close to Hong Kong opens up a world of travel opportunities from short weekend trips to longer treks around Asia in the holidays.
