The principal plays an active role in implementing and enforcing the curriculum, programme and policies. The principal’s role and position is highly challenging leadership role.
The Primary School Principal is responsible for the year groups from Early Childhood (age 3) to Grade 5 (age 10-11), and both then teaching and non-teaching staff affiliated with these age groups. Another responsibility is to create a harmonious positive environment with staff, students and parents. The Primary School Principal oversees the implementation of the International Baccalaureate. Primary Years Programme and is assisted by the PYP coordinator in implementing the IBPYP programme. Familiarity with the PYP's aims and key targets is essential. Working with the teachers, the principal will ensure a strong educational curriculum based on the IB PYP, a task that demands a collaborative relationship with them. Communication is a vital tool, as is evaluating the teaching staff and providing feedback concerning their performance.
