This NEW US Curriculum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is looking for a FOUNDING School Principal starting June/July 2025. The new hybrid American Standards curriculum campus, initially serving students from Kindergarten through Grade 8. There may also be some Grade 9 and Grade 10 classes added in the first two years. The campus, with a capacity of 1,500 students, is set to open with an expected enrollment of 500 in August 2025.
School Principal Position Overview: The School Principal is the primary leader responsible for the overall success and operations of the school. This role involves a deep commitment to educational excellence, school community development, and ensuring a safe, dynamic, and nurturing learning environment. The Principal is accountable for overseeing all administrative functions, supporting staff and students, and ensuring the school meets its educational goals and objectives.
Prerequisites:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
● Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (e.g.,Deputy Head Teacher, Assistant Principal, or similar).
● Proven experience in school administration and leadership.
● Strong knowledge of educational policies, curriculum development, and school management.
● Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
● Experience working in international schools and multi-cultural environments preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision:
● Develop, communicate, and implement a clear vision for the academic and cultural direction of the school in alignment with the institution’s mission.
● Foster a collaborative environment among staff, students, and parents to promote a shared vision of academic excellence and student success.
● Lead initiatives to improve student achievement through innovative educational programs, curriculum development, and data-driven decision-making.
● Ensure the school complies with accreditation standards and works towards continuous school improvement.
Relationships and Stakeholder Engagement:
● Act as the primary liaison between the school and the broader community, including parents,the Board of Trustees, and other external partners.
● Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and encourage their engagement in school activities and decision-making processes.
● Maintain open and consistent communication with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other school-level principals, ensuring collaboration on strategic initiatives and policies.
● Serve as the face of the school to all stakeholders and represent the school at external events, conferences, and community meetings.
Safety and Wellbeing:
● Ensure a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty, and staff, in accordance with health, safety, and child protection regulations.
● Oversee the development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans, including crisis management and response protocols.
● Monitor the physical condition of school facilities and make decisions regarding maintenance, repairs, expansions, and upgrades in collaboration with the Site and Facilities Manager.
Academic and Administrative Management:
● Oversee the daily operations of the school, including logistics, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
● Lead and manage the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of teaching staff, working closely with the HR department.
● Conduct regular performance evaluations of faculty and staff, providing feedback, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
● Collaborate with the Deputy Principal to manage timetabling, class coverage, and ensure optimal learning environments.
● Ensure all teaching staff meet professional responsibilities, including lesson planning, student assessments, and adherence to school policies.
● Manage the admissions process, ensuring that the school recruits and retains students who align with the school's mission and values.
Curriculum and Instruction:
● Supervise the implementation of the curriculum across all grade levels and ensure it aligns with educational standards and the school's strategic goals.
● Research and introduce new teaching methods, technologies, and resources to enhance student learning and teacher performance.
● Monitor academic performance through data analysis and reporting, ensuring continuous improvement and setting high academic standards for all students.
Staff Development and Support:
● Develop a robust professional development program for faculty and staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
● Lead the staffing process, including recruitment, hiring, and mentoring of all faculty members.
● Act as the disciplinary supervisor of all staff, addressing professional issues and promoting a positive work environment.
Operations and Budget Management:
● Work closely with the Finance Department to develop and oversee the school's budget, including academic budgets and operational expenses.
● Direct the procurement of teaching materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring efficient use of resources.
● Supervise and evaluate the Site and Facilities Manager, IT department, and the Finance and Administration Departments in all aspects of procurement, maintenance, and student transportation.
● Liaise with the Marketing and Communications teams to manage internal and external communication, event management, and student recruitment efforts.
Safety and Compliance:
● Ensure full compliance with local regulations and educational standards.
● Oversee the enforcement of school policies, rules, and regulations, including student discipline and teacher performance management.
● Ensure the proper implementation of hygiene and health protocols within the school environment.
Reporting Structure:
● Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
● Supervises: Deputy Principal, Heads of Department, Faculty, Admissions Officer, Site and Facilities Manager, Finance and Administration Departments, IT Department, Communications and Marketing Manager, and other staff as required.
