Economics Teacher Needed in Zambia - February 2025
Salary: US$3500 per month before tax (37% tax)
Accommodation:: US$1500 before tax
Flights: Annual for employee and spouse

Requirements and Expectationns
Subject: A-level Economics Only
Qualifications: Degree in closely related subject / PGCE
Experience: At least 2-3 years experience
What to expect: 2 groups of 15 academically focused Zambian students preparing for UK university entrance, small groups, high achievements
What is different: A 6 day working week Monday to Saturday and an academic year from January and December / It is also residential.
What else: There are only 5 teachers including the principal and you will be the only economics teacher - self reliance and a willingness to be part of a new start project willl be needed
This is a pilot project funded to provide a high quality 16-18 A-level educational experience to a limited number of scholarship Zambian students. Beginning in February 2025, this will be the first year of operation and depending on performance will lead to the development of the existing campus and new ones in Zambia and across Sub Saharan Africa.

- Lusaka is the capital of landlocked Zambia. It is a poor but safe country where the cost of living is very reasonable. It is not a country where someone is going to earn megabucks but they will embrace a unique opportunity to live and work in one of the most beautiful countries in Africa. This is a place for the outdoors type. If you love safari then you are only a few hours away and Victoria Falls is a 20 minute flight away. Expats can enjoy being part of a cultural experience where they can also embrace creature comforts from home; western products are available and there is easy access to bars, restaurants and hotels. It is not a great place for vegetarians and car hire / purchase is expensive! Some have been knnown to import their car for US$1500 or drive up from South Africa; they drive on the left. Laod shedding is common and so there are frequent power outages. The country runs on hydro electic power and there has been a recent drought; many resort to solar energy and generators. This is Africa so it neeeds to be approached with a different set of expectations than say those of the Middle East!
