Regional Info:
Lusaka is the capital of landlocked Zambia. It is a poor but safe country where the cost of living is very reasonable. It is not a country where someone is going to earn megabucks but they will embrace a unique opportunity to live and work in one of the most beautiful countries in Africa. This is a place for the outdoors type. If you love safari then you are only a few hours away and Victoria Falls is a 20 minute flight away. Expats can enjoy being part of a cultural experience where they can also embrace creature comforts from home; western products are available and there is easy access to bars, restaurants and hotels. It is not a great place for vegetarians and car hire / purchase is expensive! Some have been knnown to import their car for US$1500 or drive up from South Africa; they drive on the left. Laod shedding is common and so there are frequent power outages. The country runs on hydro electic power and there has been a recent drought; many resort to solar energy and generators. This is Africa so it neeeds to be approached with a different set of expectations than say those of the Middle East!
