This international school in Shanghai is looking for a Secondary Head of Performing Arts (with music background) to join them at their Puxi campus in August 2020. The role includes the oversight of the academic and co-curricular music and drama programmes. The successful candidate must have current IBDP music teaching experience (with IGCSE music experience preferred but not essential). The candidate will also need extensive experience organizing high quality music concerts and have a strong background working with instrumental groups, choirs and, preferably, orchestras. The school's performing arts graduates frequently attend high calibre music or performing arts colleges (they had an early admission into Royal College of Music, London last year and the youngest entrant into WAPA a few years prior) or university programmes around the world and the school are known as having a very strong secondary Performing Arts programme. While the Performing Arts team does include drama teachers, the Head of Performing Arts needs to come from a Music background. Candidates should also be a holder of a Bachelor Degree and teaching certificate or license, with excellent subject knowledge and several years of full-time teaching experience. They should support the school's values, have passion for teaching students, demonstrate a rigorous approach in teaching different year levels and demonstrate commitment in teamwork. Experience in teaching in an international school with a diverse student body and teaching faculty is a plus.
